Introduction:

Another Dam Canyon is a fun romp through a watery gorge. The canyon drops very steeply away from the Highway. This steep decent produces an abundance of waterfalls and lovely emerald green pools. The vertical relief of Another Dam Canyon also makes for fantastic views down into the valley below. Overall, the canyon is quite the romp and is technically moderate. However, most of the rappels go on advanced natural anchors. Most of these anchors are well placed knot chocks or wired nuts. You must have the skill and ability to replace these anchors in order to safely descend this canyon. Please do not further bolt this canyon as an alternative to these natural anchors. The current anchor situation is very elegant and functional.

The water that flows through Another Dam Canyon is dam release. Under normal conditions, a small flow of water is released in the canyon as a “fish release” to preserve habitat for the canyon’s flora and fauna. These fish releases provide the perfect flow for a descent. Though larger releases into Another Dam Canyon are not common, it is a good practice to check the flow schedule before making a descent to verify that no major release is scheduled. Entering Another Dam Canyon under high flow conditions would be very dangerous.
